    Take Licorice

    Fatigue and weakness, both, are the common problems among thyroid patient, and use of licorice is exceptionally good in these conditions. Licorice balances the thyroid hormone and provide energy naturally. Stress and hypothyroidism are closely related. In cases of hypothyroidism, Cortisol, which helps in managing stress, gets reduced. Licorice increases the production of cortisol in the body, which helps in relieving the symptoms pertaining to hypothyroidism and related issues. In addition to this if you have diabetes, then this helps in reducing the level of blood glucose in the human body. To consume this, mix ½ tsp licorice powder in ½ glass of water, boil it for 5 to 10 minutes, strain and drink like tea. If you drink this empty stomach, it will be more beneficial.

    Whole Grains

    Patients with hypothyroidism suffer from constipation. In order to get rid of constipation, fiber and protein rich grains like wheat, oat, rice are essential. These whole grains also help your body to balance the thyroid hormone. Wheat and sorghum are the easier options for controlling the growth of thyroid. For prevention of the growth of thyroid gland mostly wheat and sorghum should be used.

    Add flax Seeds to Your Diet

    Flax seeds are rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acid which is considered good for thyroid control and therefore this should be added daily in your diet.

    Take Ashwagandha

    According to the Ayurveda, Ashwagandha is excellent in controlling stress and thyroid. Therefore, take a small spoonful (4 to 5gms) Ashwagandha powder with milk or with plain water. You can also take 1 or 2 Ashwagandha capsules, daily.

    Coriander Seeds for Thyroid

    Soak approximately 2 spoonful whole coriander or coriander seeds in half a glass of water overnight. In the morning boil this water with coriander for 5 minutes, strain and drink lukewarm. If you are taking any medication for controlling thyroid, then take your medicine first empty stomach, and after 30 minutes drink this concoction and have your breakfast 30-45 minutes after this. If you want, you can take it twice in a day, empty stomach. This is very helpful in controlling thyroid. After regularly taking it for 30 – 45 days, check your thyroid levels once again.

    Add Iodine to Your Daily Diet

    Iodine improves the functioning of the thyroid gland. Patients with hyperthyroidism should include Iodine in their diet. For this they must eat a lot of curd, garlic, tomatoes and onions.

    Ginger

    Nutrients, like Potassium, Magnesium etc. present in ginger help in getting rid of thyroid problems. Anti-inflammatory qualities of ginger dampen the growth of thyroid and improves its functioning. If you take half a glass of water boiled with ginger, then it will help you in weight reduction also.

    Take Nutritious Meals

    Calcium, Vitamin and Protein rich foods help you in keeping thyroid levels normal.

    *Consume more milk and curd.
    *Vitamin D protects from hypothyroidism and similar ailments.
    *Try to get up early and get Vitamin D from direct sunlight.
    *Vitamin A can also be very useful, which can be obtained from Carrots, eggs or green vegetables.
    *In case of thyroid problems take as much greens as possible. Fruits and vegetables have such anti-oxidants which prevent the growth of the thyroid.

    Apple Cider Vinegar

    Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) can help a lot in dealing with thyroid problems. This helps in excretion of toxins from the body, balances acid and strengthens metabolism by balancing the hormones. This also fight other diseases like diabetes, blood pressure and high cholesterol. For this, mix two tsp apple cider with a little honey to a glass of warm water, and take it regularly.     Drink More Water

    If you have thyroid problem, then drink as much water, juices or coconut water as you can. This will not only help in the excretion of toxins from your stomach, but also from your whole body. Drink at least 12-15 glasses of water and a glass of juice every day.

    Exercise

    Get up early in the morning and exercise for 20-30 minutes every day. Exercise keeps thyroid under control. Take a brisk walk every morning.

    Regular Yoga and Pranayama

    Yoga plays a big role in getting rid of thyroid problems. For this you may have to perform bhujanga-asan, meditation, naadi-shodhan, matsya-aasan, sarvaangaasan, halaasan, simha-aasan, briha-mudra.
